Heritage Preservation Award given to the
TXGenWeb Project
"The Heritage Preservation award
is presented annually to an individual, group, or organization in
recognition of contributions to preserve, conserve, house, or collect
family history. Past recipients in this category cover many varying
types of genealogical and historical preservation endeavors."
The TXGenWeb is part of the
USGenWeb® project and is the
largest state project, with 254 counties. For over twenty five years, as
a total volunteer project, County Coordinators collect and preserve
resources ranging from transcriptions of various cemetery, church and
court records, historical photos, military, vital records, county
histories and more. They continue to seek historical records to
transcribe and preserve making records freely available to both
genealogical and historian researchers.
