Obituaries for Bridges family
Harold L. Bridges, age 88, went to be with his Heavenly Father on August 10, 2024 at his home in Hallsville, TX. He was born February 9, 1936 to Robert and Ola Mae Bridges in Joaquin, TX where he graduated from high school. He was married to Enola Sue Ramsey Bridges for 62 years. He served his country in the U.S. Army until his honorable discharge December 1958. He worked at Stroh’s Brewer in Longview, TX for 28 years until his retirement in 1971. Harold was a country boy who enjoyed hunting and especially fishing alongside his sons and friends. He also loved tending the garden, nurturing his crops while enjoying the yield and sharing with family and friends. Harold was a longtime resident of Hallsville, TX where he was a member of and attended with his wife at Mulberry Springs Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Enola Sue Ramsey Bridges, daughter Katina Gibbs Yeargain and her husband Joe Yeargain, son Scotty Gibbs and his wife Christi Gibbs and son Robby Bridges and his wife Ronnelle Bridges. He had 6 grandchildren, Joey Yeargain, Brittany Yeargain Carpenter, Nathan Gibbs, Rustin Bridges and Rayven Bridges Allen. He also had 6 great grandchildren with another on the way. He loved being Papaw to all his family. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ola Mae Bridges and grandson Michael Gibbs. Memorial services for Harold will be10:00 a.m. August 16, 2024 at Rader Funeral Home Chapel, Longview to be officiated by Dr. Danny Warbington with graveside service to follow at Rosewood Park Cemetery, Longview, TX.
Joy Virginia Blankenship Lane of Dallas, Texas, age 89 died peacefully at home surrounded by family on September15,2022. She had bravely fought dementia and Parkinson's Disease for several years. Joy was born in Joaquin, Texas on March 5,1933 to Neil and Margainie Bridges Blankenship. She graduated from Baytown High School, Then attended Southwest Texas University, where she met Ralph Lane. They started dating, then were married on April 12, 1952. He was the love of her life, and they embarked on a journey that would last for 70 wonderful years. Joy is preceded in death by her parents, Neil and Margainie Blankenship, her sister Laverne Mattea and her son Carl Lane. Joy is survived by her husband Ralph Lane, her brother Mark Blankenship and his wife Patricia, her son Stephen Lane and his wife Cheri, and daughter-in-law Susan Morrison ( Carl's widow). Her grandchildren include Marcus Lane, Traci Patterson and husband Jeff Patterson, Bianca Young, Leslie Lane and Jack Lane. Her great-grandchildren include Hunter Patterson, David Patterson and Colten Young. Joy and Ralph were long-time members of Dallas Elks Lodge #71, They enjoyed playing bingo, and were members of the lodge's Wapiti Group, where they travelled all over the United States. Joy and Ralph were also active in the Swingin' Saints, a square dancing group. Joy handmade all of their costumes. Joy's crowning achievement was the Pysanky eggs that she designed. She made many beautiful creations, and one was awarded the Blue Ribbon at the State fair of Texas. Joy will be remembered as the matriarch of the family, and we will always carry her memory in our hearts.

Della Mae Bridges
Mowdy, 85, of Tyler died November 27, 2005, in Tyler. Burial was in Oaklawn
Memorial Park, Shelby County. Born February 13, 1920, in Joaquin, she was the
daughter of James and Nina Bridges. Mrs. Mowdy was married to M. W. "Jack"
Mowdy, and she preceded her in death. Survivors include daughter, Virginia
Hawkins of Nacogdoches and Brenda Hersley of Tyler; sister, Bertie Wood of
Denver, Colorado. Watson & Sons Funeral Home.
Funeral Services for Mrs. MAMIE LOUISE Bridges POWELL, 82 of Joaquin, were held at 10 A.M. Saturday, January 24, 1987 in Mangum Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Furman McCann and the Rev. Edward Williams officiated and burial was in Joaquin Cemetery. She died January 22, 1987 in Conroe Memorial Hospital. Born May 22, 1904 in Louisiana her parents were Jim Bridges and Nannie Ragan Bridges. Survivors are three daughters, Geneva Falconer, Longview, Ruth Hogan, Conroe and JoAnn Irish of Willis; two sons, Pat Powell, Port Arthur and Dick Powell of Hallsville; 14 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Nettie Chambers, Dallas, Bertie Woods, Houston, Gavie Blankenship, Dallas and Della Mae Mondy of Dallas; two brother, Ralph Bridges and George Bridges both of Dallas; also a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Webb Dean, Lonnie Buchanan, James H. Register, Dennis Freeman, Dale Freeman and J. T. Wise.
