Oscar D. Williams

Oscar D. (Kidd) Williams [d.1974] was the son of Jeff and
Elvira Williams of Mansfield DeSoto Parish.
O. D. (Kidd) Williams, 72, longtime Tulsa oil Drilling contractor and oil
producer, died at his home after a four -month illness.
Services will be a 2pm Saturday in the Rose Chapel of Boston Avenue Methodist
Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park under the direction of the John Ennis
Funeral Home.
Mr. Williams , a Tulsan since 1935, was a founder and owner of the Kidd Williams
Drilling Corp. and Kidd Williams Production, Inc.
He also was organizer of the Kidd Williams Operating, Inc., Wilco Oil Co.
Woodring Production Co. Woodring Production Co. and
Williams-Copland, Inc. all of which were later merged with his drilling and
production firms.
Before becoming ill, he had owned and operated the Co-Line Ranch near Claremore
where he raised Hereford cattle.
Mr. Williams was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Tulsa Club, Tulsa
Petroleum Club, Tulsa County Club, Akdar Shrine, Tulsa Chamber of Commerce,
American Association of Oil Well Drilling Contractors and Oklahoma Independent
Petroleum Association.
He was employed by the Mabee Drilling Co.. and Helmerich & Payne, Inc. becoming
superintendent of the later firm for which he built its drilling division from
two steam rigs to 30 modern exploration devices. In 1942 he and M. C. Copeland
became partners in the Williams-Copeland Drilling Co. He later bought Copeland
interest and formed the Kidd Williams Drilling Corp.
Mr. Williams is survived by his widow, Margery; a son John D. of Claremore; a
daughter Mrs. William T. Detamore; three sisters and four grandchildren.
