Rock Chapel Cemetery

Carmel LA

Submitted by Jane Keppler

The Rock Chapel Monastery was built in 1891 and at one time about 60 men and boys were under the tutelage

of Father Peters along with 6 nuns.  In 1896, Father Peters left and soon after the nuns left also.  On

November 14, 1904, a fire destroyed the church and monastery.

There are only 5 graves.  One of a young priest, 2 brothers of a student priest and 2 Carmelite nuns.
