A private graveside service for Eugene "Tucky" Barry of San Angelo was held
Thursday, September 25, 2003 at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville, Texas.
He was born in Bellville, Texas, September 28, 1922 and graduated from
Bellville High School in 1940.
In school he enjoyed football, basketball,
track and baseball. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Bellville. He
served for three years in the Army Infantry at the South Pacific during
World War II. After the war, he was a car-man for the Santa Fe Railroad in
Bellville. He married Virginia "Ginna" Dare Eastman in 1946 and they lived
and began raising their children in their "little brown house" and later
moved to the L.A. Machemehl house in Bellville, where they resided for eight
years. After the recession in 1961, the family moved to San Angelo, Texas
and Mr. Barry "Slim" worked for Alexander construction until his retirement
in 1985.
"Honee," as his children and grandchildren lovingly called Tucky, was a
quiet, Christian man who derived much pleasure and love from his home and
family. His wonderful sense of humor and his loving kindness and gentleness
will endure forever in the hearts and memories of his friends and family.
Eugene "Tucky" Barry died Sunday, September 21, 2003 at his home surrounded
by his family.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years, Ginna, children, Nola Gene
Barry Straughn and husband Fred, Claudia Barry Bellemore, and Nathan Paul
Barry and former wife Dee Duggan Barry, grandchildren Monica Straughn
Swinford and husband Tim, Jason Straughn, Erica Straughn, A'ndrea Bellemore
McAdams and husband, Lacy, John Parker Barry and Paul Tanner Barry, one
great granddaughter, Grace Estelle McAdams, a brother James Steck Barry,
loving sisters and brother-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, including
cherished nephew Paul Stephen Little and special friends.
Preceding him in death were an infant nephew, Jame David Barry, his parents
C.M. Barry and wife Maggie Glenn Barry, sisters and brother Margaret Barry
Wilson Grube, Ruth Barry and Claude K. Barry, two sisters-in-law and two
brothers-in-law including sister-in-law Nola Belle Eastman Barry and his 22
year old daughter Holly Barry Howard.
