Funeral services for Wylie Judson Bass will be conducted Thursday, October
2, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Revered John
Kappe officiating with a vigil service being conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday,
October 1 with Sister Mary Anne Hollmann officiating.
Interment will follow
at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors provided by the U.S.
Marine Corps.
Casketbarers will be Doug Bass, Jud Bass, Wade Hunt, Jr., Greg Mattes, Jr.,
Heath Wiktonk and Randy Womack.
He was born July 23, 1924 in Texarkana. Mr. Bass had spent most of his life
in the Galveston County area before moving to Bellville 1 1/2 years ago. He
had been a mail carrier in Galveston with the United States Postal Service
for 35 years, a member of U.S. Postal Carriers Union and served his country
as a U.S. Marine during WWII. Mr. Bass loved being a cowboy and enjoyed
reunions with his Marine Corps mates.
Mr. Wylie Judson Bass passed from this life Saturday morning, September 27,
2003.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law Wylie G. and Sissy Bass of
Brenham, daughter and son-in-law Cynthia J. and John Zorn of Bellville,
grandchildren Greg Mattes, Jr., Melissa Flentge, Doug Bass, Brandi Bass, Jud
Bass, great grandchildren Cullen Bass and John Wylie Flentge.
He was preceded in death by his wife Gerelene Cecilia Hunt Bass.
Those who wish may make memorials in the form of donations to the charity of
their choice.
Services were conducted by Hayes Funeral Home.
