Funeral services for Hazel Bernice Burger were held at 2 p.m. Sunday,
October 19, 2003 at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel in Bellville with Pastor
Milroy Gregor officiating.
Interment was held in the Burger family cemetery.
Pallbearers were Clint Burger, James Burger, John Burger Jr., Justin Burger,
Richard Burger and Robert Burger.
Honorary pallbearer was David Rice.
Hazel Burger was born September 16, 1915 in Cypress, Texas the daughter of
John and Mathilda Krahn Hargrave. She grew up and attended school in
Cypress, Texas.
On February 27, 1935, she was united in marriage with Fred W. Burger in
Houston, Texas. They moved to Sealy in 1947 to raise their family and have
made their home there ever since. A member of St. John Lutheran Church in
Bellville, Hazel was the religious educator for the whole family.
Hazel helped Fred with the dairy business and was considered a very good
cook, especially as a pie maker. Because of her love of children, she was
always willing to help any child in need. Hazel enjoyed flowers, plants and
cattle, and loved to watch wildlife.
Hazel Bernice Burger passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2003 at her home at
the age of 88 years and 29 days.
She is survived by 5 children; Cheryl Acebo of Sealy, Fred W. and Jean
Burger of Houston, J. Royce and Betty Burger of Sealy, Robert Dewayne and
Catherine Burger of Oak Hill and Roy Gene and Mandy Burger of Cat Spring, 20
grandchildren; Tracey Louise Roberts of Sealy, Christine Kay Sanchez of
Tomball, Kimberly Diane Acebo of Sealy, Richard Gene Burger of Rockport,
Julie Ann Kunschick of Weimar, Patricia Michele Wagner of Columbus, Connie
Miller, John Burger, Jr., and Bernice Burger of Sealy, Robert Burger of
Bellville, James Burger of Sugarland, Vickie Funderburk, Robin Donaldson and
Brenda Stewart of Bellville, Dee Ann Poorman of Katy, Delayne Andrews of
Austin, Crissy Burger of Oak Hill and Clint, Justin and Austin Burger of Cat
Spring, 26 great grandchildren, 1 brother Henry Hargrave and wife Marie of
Bedias, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews and many other friends and
relatives.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 brothers and 5
sisters.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Schmidt Funeral Home in
Bellville.
