Funeral services for John Calvin Conley, 15, of Sealy, Texas were held
Thursday, May 29, 2003 at 3 p.m. from Trinity Lutheran Church in Sealy
with Rev. Dr. Rick Ward officiating.
Pallbearers for the service were Nick
Hagen, Nathan Naida, Colby Maxwell, Josh Dale, Wesley Krenek, David Brown,
Phillip Berlanga, Hunter Hamilton and Jose Picasso.
On March 27, 1988 (Palm Sunday) Ron and Lilia Conley became the parents of
an 8 lb. 2 ounce baby boy. He was named after his great grandfather. From
the time his Mom went into labor he was raising cane 45 minutes later. "We
knew we were going to have our hands full early with this boy," said his
parents.
John was fearless, strong, outgoing, good natured, competitive, polite and
humorous. Along with these positive traits, he had his faults as all
humans do. John moved with his Dad to Sealy in December 1999. With his
personality, it didn't take him long to make friends. John and his Dad took a lot of
memorable trips together in his short life, Wyoming, South Dakota,
Colorado.
He really liked the mountains, and was always trying to climb one. In
Wyoming, it was all we could do to keep him from skateboarding down one.
He liked all kinds of sports; BMX bikes, football, baseball, dirt bikes,
paint balling, horseback riding, fishing, hunting and especially skate
boarding. Skateboarding was his favorite.
In John's eyes there was never a
bad place or a bad time to pull out his skateboard and ride. Virtually
everywhere he went with anybody, as soon as the vehicle would stop for
gas, food or what ever, out came his skateboard. As irritating as this could be
for whoever the adult of that particular excursion was, you couldn't
really get mad at him because it was truly John's passion.
In the last year of his life his relationship with his skate boarding
friends had really blossomed. There was hardly a day of the week that John
was not skating somewhere with one of the crew. John had a great
relationship with all of his family but especially with his Dad and Mom.
His smiling face and mischievous laugh will be missed.
