A Memorial service was conducted Wednesday, September 24, 2003 at Schmidt
Funeral Home Chapel in Bellville with Pastor Bill Schwertich officiating.
A private interment was held at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Bellville,
Texas.
Billie Dixon was born August 6, 1925 in Graham Oklahoma, the daughter of
Lawrence Edward and Virgie Addison Shires. She spent her childhood in
various parts of the United States. Her family settled in Davis, Oklahoma
in 1936 where she graduated from high school. After graduation, Billie
worked for the Air Force in Oklahoma. She then attended North Texas State
University in Denton, Texas for one year and Oklahoma State University for
two years.
On March 20, 1948, Billie was united in marriage to William J. (Bill) Dixon
in Davis Oklahoma. After a year, they moved to Texas making their home in
Galveston. During their married lifetime, several years were spent in
Oklahoma and Louisiana, as well as Houston, following Bill's oil field
engineering and construction work. Billie and Bill have made their home in
Bellville since 1981.
Billie loved oil painting and quilting. She enjoyed spending time RV
camping and traveling.
Billie Dixon passed away Monday, September 22, 2003 in Bryan at the age of
78.
She is survived by her husband of over 55 years Bill Dixon, daughters Pam
Traylor and her husband Tommy of Bellville and Barbie Cahill and her husband
Hank of San Antonio, grandchildren Lauren Card of Katy and Hope and Daniel
Cahill of San Antonio and sister Bernice Hiller of Willows, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Schmidt Funeral Home,
Bellville, Texas.
