Funeral services for Calvin Charles Ekarius, Sr., 63, of Sealy, were
held
Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003 at 2 p.m. from St. John Lutheran Church in
Bellville with the Rev. H. Eldon Akerman officiating. Interment was
at Sealy,
Cemetery in Sealy.
Pallbearers for the service were Gene Remmert, Vernon Ekarius,
Allen
Kaminski, Bruce Dittert, Melvin Klatt, Frank Bohac, Robert Trefney
and
Daniel Zissa.
Born in Sealy, Calvin was the son of Emanuel J. Ekarius and Welda
Thomsen
Ekarius. He attended Peters Hacienda Grade School and graduated
Sealy High
School.
Mr. Ekarius served his country in the U.S. Air Force and the U.S.
Army
during the Vietnam Era.
Calvin was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville,
Millwright.
Union Local #2232, the Machinist and Aerospace Union in Houston, and
the
Polka Lovers Klub of America where he was chosen Prince in 1999.
He worked for F.M.C. Valve Company in Houston, and for 16 years he
worked
for Nabisco.
On March 21, 1998, Calvin and the former Miss Mary Beyer were
married with
ceremony held in Bellville.
Calvin Charles Ekarius, Sr., died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003 in Sealy.
Survived by his daughters Connie Leschper of Sealy, Sally Blair and
husband
Kenneth of El Campo, son Calvin C. Ekarius, Jr. and wife Angel of
Sealy,
sister and brother-in-law Vernell and Kermit Ditters of Sealy,
brother-in-law Emilian Kaminski of Sealy, grandchildren Sara
Leschper, Bryar
Blair, Joseph Ekarius and a number of nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents Emanuel and Welda Ekarius, wife
Mary
Ekarius, sister Darlien Kaminski and twin brother Marvin Ekarius.
