Funeral services for Elton W. Emshoff, 77, of Sealy, Texas were held
Saturday, May 10, 2003 at 2 p.m. from Trinity Lutheran Church, in Sealy
with
Rev. Mark Anderson and Rev. Dale Leland officiating. Interment was at
Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Bellville.
Serving as pallbearers were Charles
Kokemor, Ray Zingelmann, David Lange, James Ganske, Larry Winkelmann and
Harvey Winkelmann.
Honorary pallbearers were all of Mr. Emshoff's
grandchildren and members of the Sealy Volunteer Fire Department.
Born in the Travis Community of Austin County,
Elton W. Emshoff was the son of Emil Emshoff and Erna Glaeser Emshoff. He
was baptized Nov. 15, 1925 at the Germania Schoolhouse in Austin County
and
confirmed in 1940 at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville. Elton attended
the Travis Public School.
In March of 1945, he was drafted into the U.S.
Army. He served his country in the 80th Mortar Battalion and spent 11
months overseas during WWII.
March 6, 1947 Mr. Emshoff and the former Miss Ruby
Winkelmann were married with ceremony held at the Welcome Lutheran Church.
Elton started with T.S.E. Gas Company in Bellville, Oct. 21, 1946, worked
there for 14 years then was with the City of Sealy for 28 years as Gas
Superintendent.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Sealy American
Legion Post #442, a 20 year member of Austin County Texas Farm Bureau, the
Texas Sportsman Association, Austin County Livestock Association, Austin
County Soil & Water Conservation District, Sheriff's Association of Texas,
the National WWII Memorial, and retired from the Sealy Volunteer Fire
Department where he had served as Assistant Chief. Elton enjoyed deer
hunting, fishing and ranching.
Elton W. Emshoff died Thursday, May 8, 2003 in a Houston Hospital.
Survived by his wife Ruby Emshoff of Sealy, sons Robert Emshoff and wife
Donna of Sealy, Jerry Emshoff and wife Mae of Bellville, daughter Cindy
Kay
Sodolak of Industry, son-in-law Marvin Sodolak and wife Shannon of
Bellville, grandchildren Jerry Wayne Emshoff, Jr., Tammy Annette Luera and
husband Ernie, Mark Alan Emshoff, Sarah Renee Emshoff, Robert William
Emshoff, Nathan Dale Sodolak, Stacey Gayle Sodolak, great grandchildren
Aaron Luera and Hannah Beth Emshoff.
Preceded in death by his parents Emil and Erna Emshoff.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church Building
Fund, 402 Atchison Street, Sealy, Texas 77474.
Services under the direction of Knesek Family Funeral Chapels in Sealy,
Texas.
