Funeral services for Janie Kendrick, 90, of Buckhorn, Texas were held
Sunday, April 13, 2003 at 2 p.m. from Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in
Bellville with Rev. Jeff English officiating.
Interment was at the
Buckhorn Cemetery in Buckhorn, Texas.
Serving as pallbearers were Jeb Snell, Lee
Snell, Kit Scruggs, Ray Killian, Billy Killian and Bob Fox.
Mary Jane "Janie" Kendrick was the 10th child of 11 born in Pittsburg,
Texas to parents James H. and Lula O. (James) Smith. She was raised in
Pittsburg, Texas and attended Pittsburg Public School.
Her mother died when she was
young and she moved with her father and brothers that were still at home
to Houston. There she lived with one of her sisters. By doing this she was
able to finish her schooling and graduated from San Jacinto High School in
1933.
After graduation she went to work for her sister, who owned the Pig Stand
at Main and Leeland. While working there she met her future husband, W.H.
"Ham" Kendrick whom she married in Houston, January 10, 1939. She was a
homemaker and very faithful to her church.
Mary Jane "Janie" Kendrick died April 11, 2003 in Kenney, Texas.
Her survivors are daughter Beverly Snell and husband James of Buckhorn,
Sisters-in-law Mae Virginia Gindorf of Houston, Violet Andres of Paris,
Arkansas, grandchildren Lee Wyly Snell of Brenham, Jeb Kendrick Snell of
Buckhorn, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents James H. and Lula O. Smith,
husband W.H. "Ham" Kendrick, six brothers and four sisters.
Memorial contributions may be made to Buckhorn Cemetery Fund 7155 FM 1456,
Bellville, Texas.
Funeral services under the direction of Knesek Family Funeral Chapels,
Bellville, Texas.
