Bellville Times Robert Blakely Land, 42, life long resident of the La Grange area, beloved husband, father and son, died Dec. 12, 2003 at 6:45 a.m. Funeral services are set for Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church with the Revs. Robert and Matt Groenke officiating. Burial will take plce at a later date at Pilgrimıs Rest Cemetery in Industy. He was born on Nov. 27, 1961 in Pasadena. Land was a quadriplegic, who was passionate about his family, hunting and wildlife management. He graduated from La Grange Independent School District, and received his associate degree from Victoria College in hospital administration. He had several employment endeavors, but he was probably best known for his barbecue. He won several awards at fairs and cook-offs. He was a restaurant owner for a time in La Grange. He married Claire Knobelsdorf Oct. 22, 1994 at West End Baptist Church in Industry with Justice of the Peace Tommy Richter officiating. He was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Colorado Valley Wildlife Management Association and the Texas Farm Bureau. He died from complicated injuries from a recent auto accident. Survivors include his wife of nine years, Claire Land, children, William Paydyn Land, Eloise Lenore Land and Elaine Victoria Land, all of La Grange, his parents Thomas Land and wife Sunny of La Porte and Patricia Lovekamp of La Grange; brothers Larry Land of La Grange, Marshall Land and wife Sheri of Wimberly and Thomas Land of La Grange; sister Petra Barfield and husband Bill of Pasadena; grandfather Nathaniel Blackmon of Houston; mother-in-law Martha Knobelsdorf of Shelby, special uncle Larry Blackmon of Kerville, niece Shelbi Land of La Grange, nephews Robert Casey Land and Michael land and wife Jamie, all of La Grange and Jordan Land of Pasadena; a special cousin Seth Blackmon of Wimberly and many more uncles, aunts and cousins. Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Paul Lutheran Church or the Reeve-Irvine Research Center, University of California in Irvine, 2107 GNRF, Irvine, Calif., 92697-4292 or to the Spinal Research Foundation, 1850 Town Center Parkway, Suite 303, Reston, Va. 20190.
