Funeral services for Antonia "Tonnie" Martisak, 100, of Tavener, Texas
were
held Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at 2 p.m. from Knesek and Sons Funeral Home
in Wallis, Texas with Rev. Henry Beseda officiating. Mark and John Dujka
provided organ music and singing.
Interment was at Krasna Cemetery in
Wallis, Texas.
Pallbearers for the service were Joe Allen Dujka, I.H.
Barta,
and her grandsons: John Holly, Franklin Kulhanek, Elden Holly and Jim
Kulhanek.
Mrs. Martisak was born on March 29, 1903 in Monaville, Texas. She was the
third child of Rosalie (Jechemenek) and Paul Dujka and was reared in the
Krasna area. She received her schooling at the San Bernard and Krasna
schools through the sixth grade.
On December 26, 1923 Tonnie and John
Lawrence Martisak were married in Halletsville, Texas. They settled in the
Tavener community where they farmed together for 41 years. After her
husband's death on September 16, 1964, Tonnie continued to live quietly in
her home enjoying her family and tending her garden. Her grandchildren
loved"Grandma's old fashioned flower garden."
Antonia "Tonnie" Martisak attained the age of 100 years, 2 months and 2
days
and passed away May 31, 2003 at the Rosenberg Rehabilitation Center in
Rosenberg, Texas.
Surviving are her two daughters Lovine Kulhanek of East Bernard and Gladys
Holly of Rosenberg, grandchildren Antoinette Rothenberg and husband Damon
Paul of Glen Burnie, Maryland , John Holly of San Antonio, Franklin
Kulhanek
of East Bernard, Elden Holly and wife Teresa of East Bernard and Jim
Kulhanek of Wallis, Texas, also two great grandchildren John Paul
Rothenberg
and Candice Holly, two step-great grandchildren Crystal Schroeder and
Tracy
Duty, four sisters Frankie Stracik, Mildred Cotharn, Emma Koehler, Joyce
Marie Otto and three brothers Jerry, William and Julius P. Dujka.
She was preceded in death by her parents Rosalie and Paul Dujka, husband
John Martisak, sisters Olga Schoppe, Julia Barta, Rose Lee Hammack, Anna
Belle Pesek, Lessie Curtis and brothers Joe and Adolph Dujka.
Funeral services under the direction of Knesek Family Funeral Chapels,
Wallis, Texas.
