Born in Bartlett, Texas Karine was the daughter of Allie and Mary Karine
(Laughlin) Shults.
Karine was raised in Bartlett and Robstown and attended
Bartlett Public School and Texas A&I. On March 12, 1938, the former Miss
Shults and Mr. Charles Austin Sullins were married with ceremony held in
Robstown, Texas.
Karine was a devoted member of Bellville United Methodist Church. For many
years she taught lessons on Sunday for the Joy Class, and was a loyal
member of the United Methodist Women, a member of the ladies hostess committee at
the Bellville Golf Club, and was a Marathon Bridge Player.
Mrs. Sullins
had many interests, sewing for her granddaughters Christy and Kendall, hosting
cousins reunions on the farm for dozens of family members, tending to her
flower garden, putting together beautiful flower arrangements and she
loved to garden, sending visitors home with grocery bags full of vegetables
always gave her great joy.
Karine loved the men in her life, husband Charles and son Rick. She loved
her nieces Norma Kay and Mary as well as their girls and two boys. They
brought her immense joy as she prepared for the weddings and births with
her sisters Jo and Dit. Being a homemaker was very important to Mrs. Sullins,
cooking from scratch and passing her secret recipes on to her
daughter-in-law who learned to cook from her by watching her rustle a
dinner together for the six of them, Charles, Rick, Georgette, Christy and
Kendall. Allie Karine Sullins was one of those rare ladies who remained married to
her beloved husband for 65 years.
Allie Karine Sullins, 96, passed away Thursday May 15, 2003 at her home
with family by her side.
She is survived by her husband Charles Sullins of Buckhorn, son and
