A Memorial Service for Herman Leon Thomas was held at 11 a.m. Friday, May
23, 2003 at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel in Bellville with Reverend
Kenneth K. Kelley officiating.
He was born in Dustin, Oklahoma on February 20, 1932, the son of Henry Lee
and Elsie Lee Thomas. He grew up and attended school in Henrietta,
Oklahoma.
After serving his country in the United States Navy, Herman went to work
for the Celanese Chemical Company. He was then employed in the automotive
sales business for 40 years. A member of the First Baptist Church in
Bellville, Herman has made his home in the Austin County and Washington
County area for the past 15 years.
Herman Leon Thomas passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2003 in a Bryan Hospital
at the age of 71.
He is survived by his children Hollister Lee Thomas of Bellville, Nina Jo
Cole of Houston, Gary Thomas of Henrietta, Oklahoma and Mike Thomas of
Houston, 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, 2 sisters Janice
Perron on New Braunfels and Winona Wilmoth of Wichita Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother J.D. Thomas and
infant twins.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Schmidt Funeral Home in
Bellville, Texas.
