Funeral services for Joe R. Bogue, 65, of Bellville were held Tuesday, September 28, 2004 at 2 p.m. from West End Baptist Church, Industry with the Rev. Dennis Keen officiating. Interment was at Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery in Industry. Serving as pallbearers were Bentley Goodman, Mark Thompson. B.J. Mikeska, Mike Long, Keith Sauls, Chris Jones, Cedric Mahon, Chris Joran, and Shane Siptak. Born in Falkville, Alabama, Joe Reginald Bogue was the son of Reginald Bogue and Alene Long Bogue. He grew up in Falkville, Alabama where he was a member of and organist for the First Baptist Church. On July 22, 1961, Joe and the former Miss Jan Jones were married with ceremony held in Geneva, Alabama. He is a graduate of University of Montevallo in Alabama and Hermann School of Physical Therapy, at Houston. He was Director of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation at Bellaire General Hospital for 33 years. He was a member of American Physical Therapy Association, the state-ranked doubles tennis player, and a talented musician. In Houston the Bogue family were active members of Southwest United Methodist Church. Joe chaired the Pastor-Parrish Committee, served on the Board of Trustees and was an M.Y.F. Leader. After retiring to the Bleiblerville community, Joe and Jan became members of West End Baptist Church in Industry. Joe R. Bogue died Saturday, September 25, 2004 at Trinity Medical Center, Brenham. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 eyars, Jan; beloved son Joe, Jr., of Austin; father, Reginald Bogue of Bellville; two sisters, Julia Watters and husband Sam of Tucson, Arizona, and Joyce Cox of Hueytown, Alabama; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Billy and Susan Jones of Destin, Florida. In addition, surviving loved ones include nephews, Trei Watters and wife Cheryl of Glendale, Arizona, Thomas Cox of Atlanta, Georgia, Chris Jones of Tampa, Florida, and Matthew Jones and wife Franny of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; nieces, Jennifer Goodman and husband Bentley of Missouri City, Meredith Cox of Hueytown, Alabama, and Amy Long and husband Mike of Alexandria, Virginia; two great nieces; two great nephews, and many friends, including Lynda and Ray Thompson of Kerrville. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alene Bogue. Memorial contributions may be made to West End Baptist Church, P.O. Box 67, Industry, Texas 78944.
