Norbert Gene Bolten was born August 25, 1926 in Millheim, Austin County, Texas, the son of Richard and Flora CAT SPRING CEMETERY aka Kollatschny Bolten. He grew up and attended school in Millheim before attending Bellville High School. On June 22, 1951, he was united in marriage with Rosemary Gross in Bellville. Norbert and Rosemary have made their home in Millheim and were members of St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville. Norbert began working in chicken and egg production which later turned into full-time farming and ranching. He had also been employed as a bus river for the Bellville Independent School District for 15 years. He had served as the Treasurer for the Millheim Harmonie Hall Association since 1969. One of Norbert's favorite past times, recently, was socializing with friends at the Bellville Quick Stop. He passed away Monday, August 9, 2004 in Brenham, at the age of 77. He is survived by his wife of over 53 years, Rosemary Bolten of Millheim; and his children, Mark Bolten , Sr. and wife Christy, also of Millheim, Blanche Bryan and husband Randall of Louisiana, and Robert Bolten and wife Lisa, also of Millheim. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Mark, Jr., Maegan and Morgan Bolten, Will Shupak and wife Angela, Shannon Shupak, and Brittany Bolten; great granddaughters, Natalie, Riana and Addison; sister, Ruval Keller of Millheim; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Norbert was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Bruce Bolten, in 1981. Funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Thursday, August 12, 2004 at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel in Bellville with Reverend David Henske officiating Burial followed in the Millheim Cemetery. Pallbearers were Matthew Bolten, Mark Bolten, Jr., Michael Bolten, Will Shupak, Ronnie Gross and Randall Bryan. In lieu of usual remembrances, friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Millheim Harmonie Hall Association or to the Millheim Cemetery Association.
