Funeral services for Leroy G. Brast, 69, of Sealy were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sealy with the Rev. Dale Leland, the Rev. Mark Anderson and the Rev. Merle Blado officiating. Interment was in the Sealy Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service were Jim Lilly, Charlie Brooks, Brian Pawlak, Steve Baumeister, Robert Brast, Jr., Russell Brast, Henry Schmidt, Jr., and Kenny Vasina. Leroy Gus Brast was born to parents, Herman A. and Martha Krause Brast, in Colorado County near Cat Spring. He was raised in Sealy and was a 1952 graduate of Sealy High School. On September 28, 1985, he married Elaine Hickman Lilly in Sealy and spent most of his working years as a mechanic for W.A. Virnau & Sons in Sealy. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict era. Mr. Brast was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sealy, and the Whataburger Coffee Round Table. He enjoyed working in his garden, and his hobbies of woodwork and miniature car collecting. Leroy G. Brast died Sunday, July 4, 2004 in Bellville. Survivors include his wife, Elaine Brast of Sealy; children and spouses, Sally Brooks and Charlie of Katy, Janie Baumeister and Steve of Katy, Susan Lilly of Houston, Lucinda Pawlak and Brian of Alpine, and Jim Lilly of Frankfort, Germany; sister, Annie May Schmidt of Eagle Lake; sister-in-law, Monty Brast of Wharton; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman A. and Martha Brast; brother, Robert Brast, Sr.; and niece, Delores Vasina.
