Vencil (Jim) Broz, 88, of
Bleiblerville, the husband of Bessie Broz, died Feb. 21, 2004 in the
Bellville hospital.
Mr. Broz was born August 25, 1915 in Bleiblerville, Texas to Henry
and Mary Broz. He was baptized in Industry Immaculate Conception
Catholic Church and was confirmed in Sealy Immaculate Conception
Catholic Church. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the
medical branch of the U.S. Army. On July 20, 1943 he married Bessie
Pilcik in Industry Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
They were married for over sixty years. They had one daughter and he
was so proud of his one and only child, Dorothy, who served as Mayor
of Brenham and is now a Washington County Judge.
Mr. Broz and his wife farmed and ranched for
over 60 years. For over 30 years, he was in maintenance of the
Industry Catholic Church. He was also a member of Knights of
Columbus, Eucharistic minister for six years, committeeman on church
council in Industry, KJT member, American Legion member of Shelby
Post, Farm Bureau member, Bleiblerville Fire Department, SPJST
member of Nelsonville and Bleiblerville lodges and a blood donor for
years.
Mr. Broz is survived by his wife Bessie Broz; daughter and
son-in-law, Washington County Judge Dorothy Morgan and husband
Emmett Morgan of Brenham; brother and sister-in-law Frank and Gladys
Broz of LaGrange; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Eddie and Alice
Pilcik; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Evelyn and Gilbert Goeke;
sister-in-law, Tillie Balke; grandchildren, Kevin and Kelly
Flisowski of Bleiblerville; Christy and Cal Goode of Jacksonville,
Florida; step grandchildren, Lori Morgan and Jason Morgan of
Houston; great grandchildren, Karleigh Flisowski of Bleiblerville
and Madison Goode of Jacksonville, Florida; and numerous nieces,
nephews and great loving neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Mary Broz; brother
Henry Broz; brother-in-law Charles Balke; sister-in-law Esther Broz;
sister and brother-in-law Mary and Ed Rayner; and an infant brother
and sister.
The funeral service for Vencil (Jim) Broz was held Tuesday at 10:30
a.m. in Industry Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father
Tim Bucek, celebrant. Burial followed in Industry Immaculate
Conception Catholic Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers in service were Kevin Flisowski, Charles Balke, Jr.,
Raymond Broz, Frank Surovik, John Craig, Jimmy Dietrick, Alvinlee
Flentge and Tim Hajdik. Honorary pallbearers were all nephews of Jim
and Bessie Broz.
The family received family and friends Sunday from 5 - 7 p.m. in
Memorial Oaks Chapel. Visitation began at 10 p.m. Monday at Zaskoda
Chapel in Industry. Family was present from 5 - 7 p.m. with the
rosary at 7 p.m. at Zaskoda Chapel in Industry.
Memorials may be given to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church,
Bleiblerville Fire Department and Hospice Brazos Valley.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West
Main St.
in Brenham.
