Bellville Times On Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004. at 10:30 a.m funeral services for Roger D. Bruening, 39, of San Antonio, formerly of Shelby Community near Industry and Fayettville, were held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby. The Rev. Pastor Pam Worrell officiated the services. A Prayer Service was held on Friday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. in Zaskoda Chapel in Industry. Interment followed at Shelby Cemetery. Pallbearers in service were Bill Kurfehs, Tim Morris, Elbert Brune, Johnny Rodriguez, Keith Meier, Greg Griffith, Ryan Ascheneck. Honorary pallbearers were Myron Gene Bruening, Robert Bruening, Nelson Aschenbeck. Friends were welcomed at the Zaskoda Chapel in Industry after 3 p.m. Friday afternoon. The family received visitors at the chapel, Friday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Roger Bruening was born on July 20, 1965 in Bellville to Aurel "Buster" Bruening and Carolyn Schmid Bruening. He was raised in Bellville and graduated from Bellville High School in 1983. He was baptized on Aug. 22, 1965 and confirmed on April 21, 1979 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby. He was a 1990 graduate of Texas A&M. Roger was a distributive engineer specializing in dock equipment and heavy equipment. He was a member of Oak Hill Church in San Antonio and the Sons of Hermann Lodge #28. He lived in San Antonio for 15 years. Roger Bruening died on Nov. 10, 2004 in San Antonio at the age of 39 years. He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Paige Bruening; fiance, Kathy Meyer; parents, Aurel "Buster" and Carolyn Bruening of Shelby; sisters, Joan Brune and husband Elbert of Frelsburg, Wanda Meier and husband Keith of Brenham; and grandfather, Sanford Schmid of La Grange. Additionally, Roger is survived by his uncles and aunts, Ann Aschenbeck and husband Nelson, Robert Bruening and wife Mary, and Myron Gene Bruening all of Shelby; nieces and nephews, Philip, Kaylyn, and Kyle Brune as well as Megan and Mitchell Meier. Survivors also include cousins, Ryan and Stacy Aschenbeck and their children Mia and Reid, Trisha and Church Buechmann, Tim Bruening, Sarah and Kevin Bertsh and daughter Hannah, Beverly Koller, Denise and Norbet Jaschonaek and daughter Jessica, and Kristen Patterson, mother of Ashley.
