Bellville Times Funeral services for Jewel Marie Buechmann, 78, of New Ulm, were held Thursday, August 12, at 11:00 a.m. from St. John Lutheran Church in New Ulm with the Rev. Bill Mosley officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Cory Klussmann, Allen Cook, Jason Frank, Charlie Krueger, Lew Ellyn Gross, Larry Cernoch and Royce Freitag. Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. from Wallis City Cemetery in Wallis. Born in Simonton, Jewel was the daughter of Albert W. and Jewel Fowler Freitag. She was raised in Wallis and graduated from Wallis High School in 1941. Jewel was previously married to Roy Heiman for 37 years and would have celebrated her 22nd wedding anniversary with Cleo Buechmann on September 11, 2004. Jewel and Cleo were married in Round Top with the Rev. Milroy Gregor officiating, on September 11, 1982. Mrs. Buechmann worked as a post mistress 44 years for the U.S. Postal Service in Wallis. Jewel was a member of the Wallis Book Club and St. John Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Jewel Buechmann died August 9, 2004 in Brenham, Texas. She is survived by her husband Cleo Buechmann; stepchildren, Amy Glussmann and husband Cory of Brenham, Debbie Frank and husband Bubba of New Ulm, Diane Cook and husband Allen of Katy, Carrie Arrington of New Caney, Chuck Buechmann and wife Trisha of Brenham, Chris Buechmann and wife Dorothy of Porter; sister, Esther Engelking of Pearland; brother, Albert W. Freitag, Jr. and wife Pauline of Livingston, and two nieces and one nephew. She is preceded in death by her parents Albert W. and Jewel Freitag. Memorial contributions may be made to The Michael J.
