Funeral services for Wayne Carby, 60, of Bellville and formerly of Yoakum,
will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 29, 2004, from Koenig & Strickland
Chapel in LaGrange with Pastor Willie Rotter. Interment will follow in the
Cedar Cemetery near LaGrange. Visitation was after 7 p.m. Wednesday at the
funeral home. Pallbearers in service will be Michael Miller, Chris Stafford,
Van Johnson, Greg Stafford, Jeremy Schmidt, and Jarod Wenske.
Wayne was born December 24, 1943, in Seguin, the son of Alfred Arnold Carby
and Willie Mae Vornsand Carby. He was baptized and confirmed at Holy Cross
Lutheran Church in Yoakum.
He married Elaine Miller on February 14, 1969 in Jones Creek and served in
the U.S. Air Force Reserves for 6 years. A master electrician for many
years, he owned and operated Carby Electric in Bellville and was a member of
the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 716.
A resident of Bellville for 23 years, he attended St. John Lutheran Church
in Bellville. He was member of the Woodmen of the World, Sierra Club,
Chappell Hill Chamber of Commerce, AARP, Democratic Party and was a State
Democratic Representative of Electoral Votes.
He loved the Texas Longhorns and purchased season tickets each year for the
UT games. Wayne enjoyed the flowers of his labor, not the weeding, but the
flowers. He was always thinking ahead; always providing for and taking care
of his family.
Wayne passed away suddenly Thursday, October 21, 2004, in a Las Vegas,
Nevada hospital at the age of 60 years, 9 months and 27 days. He had been
working on a construction project.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Willie Mae Carby Schmidt
and his step-father Norman Schmidt.
His survivors include his wife of 35 years, Elaine Carby of Bellville; son,
Erwin Wayne Carby and wife Stephanie and their son Drew of Austin; daughter,
Susan Addison and husband Chris and their children Nathan, Joshua, Joe and
Kelley Addison of Brenham.
Also, sisters and brothers, Ginger Johnson and husband Ervin of Kenedy; Jan
(Dolly) Stafford of Victoria; Norman Schmidt and wife Brenda of Magnolia;
Sharon Laqua and husband Glenn of Houston; Linda Wenske of Yoakum; Sandra
Schmidt of Houston; Aunt, Anita Laux of Schulenberg.
Memorials may be made to the Democratic Party.
