Funeral services for W.H. "Herb" Dawson,
87, of Mesquite were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2004 at
Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Ken
James officiating. Burial followed at Hillcrest Garden of
Memory near Hillsboro.
He was born March 2, 1917 in Bellville to William Henry and Anna
Edwards Dawson. He was raised in Bellville but lived in the Midland,
Fort Stockton, and Hillsboro areas most of his life.
He married Jimmie Lois Frasure on March 29, 1941 in Brenham and she
preceded him in death on September 25, 1993.
He worked 20 years for the Borden Company before going into business
for himself. He was the owner and operator of The Gandy's Dairies
Distributorship serving Fort Stockton for 17 years, retiring in
1980. Mr. Dawson was a member of the First Baptist Church in
Hillsboro and the Lion's Club in Midland, Fort Stockton, and
Whitney.
Herb Dawson died Thursday, March 18, 2004, in a Mesquite nursing
home.
Survivors include three children, Judy Darsey of Albuquerque, N.M.,
Caroline Littlefield of Port Townsend, Wash., and Michael Dawson and
wife Jerri of Mesquite; seven grandchildren and nine great
grandchildren.
