Josie Selma Reeder Ellermann was born July 5, 1924 in New Ulm, the daughter of Otto R. and Hilma Holzmann Reeder. She was received into God's Kingdom of Grace through the washing of Holy Baptism by Pastor O. Lindenberg on August 24, 1924 at St. John's Lutheran Church of New Ulm and was confirmed there on January 2, 1938 by Pastor H.C. Paehlmann. Josie attended Henkhaus School near New Ulm and graduated from Bellville High School in 1942. She moved to Dallas and worked while taking business training at Rutherford Business School. She worked in the general office of MKT Railroad for 4 1/2 years. On April 21, 1946 Josie was married to Herbert H. Ellermann at New Ulm, by Pastor Ray Grote. This union was blessed with two daughters, Kay Elaine and Judy Gail. Herbert and Josie lived in Dallas until June of 1987, when they moved to Palestine. Josie was retired from Champion Paper Company, formerly St. Regis, after working there 15 1/2 years. She belonged to the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary #31 in Dallas, serving as Adjutant Treasurer four years and doing volunteer work both at the Dallas V.A. Hospital and Bonham V.A. Hospital. Josie was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Dallas and later at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Palestine, serving in various offices of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She was also a member of the American Association of Retired Persons and National Association of Federal Employees. Josie departed this life to enter eternal glory with her Lord Jesus Christ on August 16, 2004, having attained the age of 80 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Isabella Kirchhofer; and her husband, Herbert Ellermann. Survivors left to mourn her earthly passing but rejoicing in her transition to eternal life are her daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Howard Wickliffe of Ferris and Judy and Charles Hill of Paris, Texas; grandchildren, Jason Payne and his wife, April, Jarett Payne, Collin Hill and his wife Meredith, Christopher Hill and his wife Christy, and Caleb Hill; one step-granddaughter, Jennifer Widra; and her sister, Ora Dell Kollman. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery officiated by Pastor David R. Bergman and accompanied by organist, Mary Bowden. Memorials may be direct to Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Posted by Joy Neely
