Bellville Times
After a courageous, hard-fought battle with cancer, Sarah Elizabeth Golson passed away Friday, Dec. 31, 2004. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Sarah made an impact on all she knew through her tender heart, thoughtful touches and unconditional love. Sarah Elizabeth Sasser was born July 29, 1941 to Bertha and Edward Sasser in Hemphill. She received her undergraduate degree from Baylor University and went on to complete her Masters at Texas A&M University. Sarah wed the love of her life, Thomas E. Golson, on March 2, 1962. Together they built a lifetime of memories raising their sons, Stephen and Mark. Sarah and Tom jointly embarked on careers in education. While Sealy has been their home for the last 26 years, their ties to hometowns of their past, including Bellville and Spur, continue to be strong through enduring friendships. Sarah shared her heart with our youth as a dedicated elementary school teacher for over 30 years. Her last years teaching were spent at Sealy ISD. In recent years, Sarah also held dear her affiliation with the Houston Junior Women's Club. Through meaningful volunteer work and truly, heart-warming friendships, this organization brought her great happiness. Sarah is preceded in death by her loving parents, Edward and Bertha Sasser; and her step-father, Homer Oglethorpe. She leaves behind her loving husband of almost 43 years, Tom Golson; her loving sons, Stephen Golson and his wife Becky; Mark Golson and his wife Kelly Jo; five adoring grandchildren, Jay, Grant, Luke, Trent and Sophie Elizabeth; and her step-sister, Joyce Markum. Visitation was held Monday, January 3rd, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and services were held Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2004 at 10:30 a.m., at Knesek Brothers Family Funeral Chapel, Sealy. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 1907 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, TX 77030. Posted by Joy Neely
