Funeral services for Vlasta Grebe, 88 of Bleiblerville wereheld on Monday, March1, 2004 at Nelsonville Brethren Church in Nelsonville at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Groseclose officiating. Interment followed at the National Cemetery in Nelsonville. Serving as pallbearers were Russell Stein, Darrell Stein, Timothy Grebe, Gregory Grebe, Kenneth Grebe, and Dwaine Siptak. Visitation was from Knesek Family Funeral Chapel in Bellville on Sunday after 4 p.m. Vlasta Grebe was born in Bleiblerville to parents William and Mary (Bedrich) Stepan. She was raised in the Bleiblerville area and attended school there. On October 16, 1938, she married Reuben Julius Grebe in Nelsonville. They made their home in the Nelsonville-Bleiblerville area, where she was a homemaker all her life. Vlasta was a member of Nelsonville Brethren Church, Mutual Aid Society, and the Nelsonville-Bleiblerville S.P.J.S.T. Vlasta Frances Grebe died on Friday Feb. 27, 2004 in Brenham. She is survived by her daughter Marilyn Faye Stein and husband W.O of Brenham; son Reuben Earl Grebe and wife Gladys of Victoria; brother Raymond J. Stepan and wife Ruby of Hempstead; grandchildren Russell Stein and wife Evelyn and their children Bridget and Dalton; Darrell Stein and wife Rose and their daughter Sydney; Timothy Grebe and wife Beth and their children, Tanner, Conner and Olivia; Gregory Grebe and wife Shelley and their son Mickey. Vlasta is preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Stepan; husband Reuben Julius Grebe, son Sidney Grebe; sisters Rosalie Broughton and Lydia Siptak; and brothers Frank, William, Alfred, John, Otto, and Adolph Stepan. Funeral services are under the direction of Knesek Family Funeral Chapel in Bellville.
