Funeral services for Alvin Louis Hoff, 89, of Bellville, were held on Monday July 5, 2004 from Knesek Family Funeral Chapel in Bellville at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Milroy Gregor officiating. Interment was in the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Bellville. Pallbearers were Mark Kopycinski, Marshal Hoff, Guy Alcorn, Matt Strock, Clifton Frank, and Art Wammel. Honorary pallbearers were Morris McKenzie, Jess Frank, Joyce Halewyn, and great grandson John William Strock. Born to parents Henry Herman Hoff and Emma Wammel Hoff, Alvin Louis Hoff was raised and attended school in the Ives Creek Community of Austin County near Bellville. Alvin was a farmer and rancher. He loved working with his cattle, baled a lot of hay, and in his earlier years, raised cotton. On Jan. 20, 1941, he married Rebel A. Nation in the Baptist church in Geona, Texas. In 1954, he had the first bale of cotton in Austin County. Alvin also enjoyed going to Port City Livestock Auction in Sealy, where he marketed his cattle. He loved to dance and enjoyed being involved in his community. He served as a member and director of the Cochran School Board. He was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church where he was a lifetime member. He was also a member of the Austin County Livestock Association, Woodmen of the World, and when his children were in school at Cochran, served as a 4-H leader. He also served as a member and director of the Austin County Farm Bureau. Alvin loved his family and his friends. He just loved people. Alvin Louis Hoff died on Friday, July 2, 2004 in Bellville. He is survived by his wife, Rebel Hoff of Bellville; daughter, Carolyn Ann Kopycinski and husband John of Chappell Hill; son, Jerry Alvin Hoff and wife Doris of Katy; grandchildren, Mark Kopycinski, Becky Hoff Alcorn and husband Guy, Marshall Hoff, and Christi Kopycinski Strock and husband, Matt; sister, Anita Frank; brother, Arthur Hoff Wammel and wife, Leola; sisters-in-law, Bobbie Jamison, Jimmie Rogers, Lottie Hiller, and Sue McHavier; brother-in-law, Robert Nation, and the sparkle in his eye, great grandson, John William Strock. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Emma Hoff; son, Charles Edward Hoff; brother, Ernest Hoff; and sister, Hazel Hoff McKenzie.
