Funeral services for Leroy Paul Hoff, 86, of Houston and formerly of Bellville, were held Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004 at 2 p.m. from Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in Bellville with the Rev. John Tyler officiating. Interment was at Buckhorn Cemetery, near Bellville. Serving as pallbearers were David Wendt, Carrell Wendt, Dwayne Wiecker, Tommy Lange, Vernon Wendt, Wm. "Billy" Jackson. Honorary pallbearers were nephew, Randy Wendt, and all Leroy's great nieces and nephews. Born in Burleigh, Leroy was the son of Paul Hoff and Alwina Schvanda Hoff. He was raised in Burleigh and attended Roach Prairie Public School. Leroy served his country during World War II in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant and was awarded two Purple Hearts. On May 23, 1959, Mr. Leroy Hoff and the former Miss Lola Crawford were married with ceremony held in Rosenberg. He worked as a lineman for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, retiring after 30 years. He was a member of the Bellville United Methodist Church, the Bellville V.F.W. Post #6522, and the Pioneer Club. Leroy Paul Hoff passed peacefully at his home in Houston, on Monday, Dec. 6, 2004. He is survived by his daughter, June Hensley of Houston; son, David Ewald of Bellville; sisters, Florence J. Wendt, of Bellville, and Mable Fay Wiecker and her husband Elroy of Bleiblerville; nephews, Carrell Wendt, David Wendt, Randy Wendt, Dwayne Wiecker; and his niece, Cheree Dale Lange. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Alwina Hoff; his wife Lola Hoff; an infant sister; and by his brother-in-law, Earl Wendt.
