Funeral services for Alvin A. Hoffman, 90, of East Bernard were held Friday, Dec. 10, 2004 at 2 p.m. from First Baptist Church in East Bernard with the Rev. Duane Mayberry officiating. Entombment followed at the Haven of Rest Mausoleum in Sealy. Serving as pallbearers were Randy Ueckert, Grant Bodine, Alan Abel, Charlie Brown, Louis Losack and Bill Losack. Born in Bellville, Alvin was he son of Ernst and Hertha Abel Hoffman. He was raised in Bellville and attended school in Bellville. On June 1, 1939, Mr. Hoffman and the Former Miss Ruby Hillboldt were married at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville. Alvin was employed as Service Manager for Union Motor Company for many years before going into private contracting business and also raising cattle, which he really enjoyed. Alvin A. Hoffman died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, in Bellville. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ruby Hoffman of East Bernard; his sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor and Harry Ueckert of Jasper; nieces, Toi Bodine and her husband Grant of Houston, and Cheryl Brown of Jasper; nephew, Randy Ueckert and his wife Melanie of Bellville. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, Ernst and Hertha Hoffman, his wife's parents, and his brother-in-law, W.C. Hillboldt. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of East Bernard, 619 Fitzgerald St., East Bernard, Texas 77435. Funeral services under the direction of Knesek and Sons Funeral Home, Wallis.
