Jimmy
Hajime Kondo was born Feb. 12, 1940 in Urawa City, Saitama-Ken,
Japan.
The son of Osuke and Hisako Ineda Kondo, he came to Texas in 1960 as
a student at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. After graduating from
Texas Tech, he made his home in Houston where he spent his
professional career in oil and gas related fields from 1967 through
the late 1990s.
Jimmy was united in marriage with Lena Ohrberg in Sweden on Aug, 31,
1969.
After Jimmy's retirement, he and Lena moved to the Millheim
Community near Sealy in 2000.
A good man with impeccable character, Jimmy was always looking to
learn and
explore what life had to offer. He spent his last few years as a
farmer and
a woodworker. He was a Master Chef and also an excellent gardener.
He loved
animals and enjoyed building everything from cars to homes.
Jimmy passed away suddenly Tuesday. Feb. 3, 2004 in Brenham, at the
age of 63.
He is survived by his wife of almost 35 years, Lena Kondo of
Millheim; daughter Emmy Maria Kondo and her partner, Daniel
Rosenthal of Chicago and his granddaughter Ruby Emilia Rosenthal,
also of Chicago; 1 brother,Katsuhiko Kondo; 3 sisters, Kyoto Kiger,
Sachie Kondo and Yurie Kondo, and numerous other relatives and dear
friends in the U.S., Sweden and Japan.
He was preceded in death by his son Philip Kondo In 1995.
Funeral service was held Friday, Feb. 6, 2004 at the Schmidt Funeral
Home Chapel in Bellville with Dr. Bill Pemberton officiating.
Private family interment followed.
In lieu of usual remembrances, friends who wish may make memorial
gifts to the Millheim Cemetery Association, 4787 FM 949, Sealy,
Texas 77474.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Schmidt Funeral
Home in Bellville.
