Ewald Krenek, 90, of Lone Oak Community in Colorado County died Sunday, Aug. 1 in Columbus. Funeral services are set for Tuesday, at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Frelsburg with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Wayne Flagg will officiate. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 2 at Knesek Chapel in Fayetteville. Born in Colorado County July 29, 1914, he was the son of Vince and Johanna Martinek Krenek. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Frelsburg and served in the United States Army during World War II and was decorated for his services in the Philippines, New Guinea and Luzon. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Pearl Krenek of New Ulm; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and by 10 brothers and sisters, Lena Havel, Francis Meyer, Theodore Krenek, Fritz Krenek, Vince Krenek, Willie Krenek, Lebert Krenek, Leo Krenek, Alma Karasek, and his twin sister, Jennie von Minden.
