Bellville Times
Doris Mae (Raiford) Ladig was born Nov. 19 1931
in Harvey, Louisiana, the
daughter of Henry V. and Julia E. (Terrebone) Raiford. As a child,
her
family moved to Houston where she attended Blessed Sacrament grade
school
and St. Agnes Academy.
In 1950, Doris married Allen Ladig in Houston, and raised three
children.
She was employed as a key punch operator at Schlumberger Well
Services for
25 years.
In 1983, Doris and Allen relocated to Cat Spring. From 1984 until
1994, they
owned and operated Ladig's Liquor Store in Bellville. They have made
their
home in Bellville since 2002.
Doris passed away Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004 in Houston at the age of 72.
Her
greatest enjoyments were her family and friends, watching the Astros,
an
occasional gambling jaunt, and a great bowl of gumbo.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Allen Ladig; daughter
Diana Lee
Ladig of Bellville; sons Allen Wayne Ladig of Pearland and Wesley
Kevin
Ladig of Houston; sister Judy Parker of Houston; sisters-in-law
Anita Ladig
of Spring, Marion Raiford of Willis and Shirley Raiford of
Anchorage,
Alaska; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Henry V. and Julia E. (Terrebone)
Raiford; brothers Raymond, Harold, Henry P. and Robert Raiford.
Funeral Service was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004 at the
Schmidt
Funeral Home Chapel in Bellville with Father Timothy Bucek
officiating.
Interment followed in the Cat Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were Tony
Raiford, Andy Raiford, Mitch Raiford, Jerry Ladig, Winston Deutrich
and
Kenneth Parker, Jr..
In lieu of usual remembrances, friends who wish may make memorial
gifts to
the charity of their choice.
