Funeral services for Jesse Frank Macat were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004 at the Nelsonville Brethren Church with Rev. Michael Groseclose officiating. Burial followed in the National Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Matt Macat, Chris Ignasiak, Kevin Ignasiak, Shane Siptak, Danny Chovanec and Kenneth Macat. Jr. Honorary pallbearer was Leeland Maeckel.

Jesse Macat was born July 13, 1920, in Nelsonville, Texas to parents Frank and Albina Sisa Macat. He grew up in Bleiblerville where he attended the Santa Anna School.

Corporal Macat served his country in the United States Army during World War II participating in the European African Middle Eastern (EAME) Campaign where he was awarded 4 Bronze Stars and the Prisoner of War medal. On Oct. 4, 1947, Jesse was united in marriage with Pearl Louise Beckmann at the Nelsonville Brethren Church by Rev. Josef Barton.

They lived in Houston for 4 years before returning to the Nelsonville area where they have made their home since that time. Jesse was a carpenter by trade and enjoyed building things. He liked to hunt and fish and loved playing with his grandchildren.

Jesse was a member of the SPJST Lodge #202 in Bleiblerville, the Nelsonville Brethren Church and was a former member of the Bellville V.F.W. Post #6522.

Jesse Frank Macat passed away Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004 in Bellville at the age of 83.

He is survived by his son Frankie Macat and wife Marlene of Bleiblerville; daughter Kathy Ignasiak and husband Clayton of Bellville; grandsons Matt Macat of Bleiblerville, Chris and Kevin Ignasiak of Bellville; sisters Vlsta Siptak of Bleiblerville, Sadie Siptak of Nelsonville, Grace Kasparek of Bellville, Gladys Broz of Bleiblerville and many other friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and 3 brothers Ernest, Otto and Cotton Macat.

In lieu of usual remembrances friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Nelsonville Brethren Church Building Fund or to the Bleiblerville Volunteer Fire Department.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home in Bellville, Texas.
