Pearl Louise McElfresh was born on April 13, 1923
in Kerrville, Texas the
daughter of James and Freddie (Dickson) Edwards.
On Aug. 11, 1950, Louise was united in marriage with Jesse Howard
McElfresh
in Beeville. They made their home in numerous places while following
the oil
exploration business in Texas, Montana, Wyoming, New Mexico and
Colorado.
After Jesse retired in 1985, he and Louise moved to the Brenham area
in
1987. They made their home in Hickory Creek outside of Bellville
from 1990
through 1999. Louise moved to Houston in July of 2001 to live with
her
daughter Robin.
A Methodist by faith, Louise raised three children. She also spent
several
years as a secretary for various businesses. Louise was an active
member of
the Bellville General Hospital Auxiliary while living in Austin
County. She
enjoyed traveling, gardening and especially loved birds and animals.
She passed away Wednesday Feb. 18, 2004, in a Houston hospital at
the age of
80. Louise is survived by her children; Bruce McElfresh and Robin
McElfresh,
both of Houston, Douglas McElfresh of San Diego, California; other
relatives
and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband,
Jesse
McElfresh and her parents.
A Memorial Service was held on Saturday Feb. 28, 2004 at 10:30 a.m.
at the
Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel in Bellville with the Rev. John Tyler
officiating. In lieu of usual remembrances, friends who wish may
make
