Betsy Jane Lynch Nehrkorn was born October 10, 1936, in Marquand, Missouri, the daughter of Ben and Irene Simmons Lynch. She grew up and attended school in Farmington, Missouri, graduating from Farmington High School. On April 20, 1963, Jane was united in marriage with Max Elwood Nehrkorn, Jr. at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville. For 22 years, they lived in Houston before moving to Bellville, where they have made their home for the past 20 years. Jane was employed by Moncrief Lenoir for 25 years and NBCI for 7 years. From 1997-2002, she owned and operated BJ's Boutique in Bellville. A member of St. John Lutheran Church, she enjoyed volunteering and was an active member of several organizations in Bellville. These included the Bellville General Hospital Auxiliary, Friends of Lifeline and the Bluebonnet Society. She had recently enjoyed organizing the hospital auxiliary's resale shop. Jane and max also loved to travel and "RV" together. Jane Nehrkorn passed away Friday, August 20, 2004 in Bellville at the age of 67. She is survived by her husband of over 41 years, Max Nehrkorn of Bellville; her sisters, Bueleh "Boots" Whitener and Mary Anna Sumpter, both of Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters, and 3 brothers. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, August 23, 2004, at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville with Pastor David Henske and Pastor Jennie Jones officiating. Interment followed in the Oak Knoll Cemetery. Pallbearers were Greg Huffman, Jimmy Brotherton, Jerry Brotherton, Don Wengler, Carman Holzaepfel, Gerald Schroeder, David Cryan and Allen Wienecke. Honorary pallbearers were Ted Nehrkorn and members of the Bellville Lions Club. In lieu of usual remembrances, friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Bellville General hospital Auxiliary, P.O. Box 977, Bellville, TX 77418, or St. John Lutheran Church, 520 N. Holland, Bellville TX 77418, or to the Friends of Lifeline, 728 E. O'Bryant, Bellville, TX 77418. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home, Bellville.
