Funeral services for Ila Mae "Sally" Patterson Owens were held on Feb. 13 at San Felipe Methodist Church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Doug Laws officiating. Internment was held at Brookside Cemetery in Houston at 3 p.m. Visitation was held at the church at 9 a.m. Friday morning.

Sally was born in Singleton and raised in Aldine. She married J.L. Patterson and helped run the family Texaco service station. She was also past President of the Aldine PTA, an election judge, and worked in the Aldine School District Tax Office for 15 years.

Sally met and married O.D. Owens in 1968 and they made their home in San Felipe since 1978. Sally was  a member of the San Felipe Methodist Church. She was happiest when preparing a large meal for her friends and family. When visiting, you knew there would be plenty of food prepared, and even though you may arrive unexpected, you never left hungry. Even now, "Maw," must be orchestrating a fantastic meal for loved ones that have preceded her to heaven.

Sally Owens died on Sunday Feb. 8, 2004 in San Felipe.  

Sally is survivied by her daughters Patsy Gresham of Houston, Ginger Nethery of Luling, and Fay Rice of San Felipe; sister Myrtle Dewberry and husband Harold; brother Curtis Wren and wife Martha; grandchildren Glen Gresham and wife Robin, Clyde Nethery and wife Kathy, Carrie Smith, Gene Nethery, Dayne Rice and wife Karla, and Destry Brobston and wife Lori, and 13 great grandchildren.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Bryant and Beulah (Taylor) Wren, husband O.D. Owens, sisters Bebee Dueitt, and Otha Simpson, and brother Arnold Wren.

Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 705 S. Austin St. Brenham, Texas, 77833 or the San Felipe Methodist Church.

Knesek Family Funeral Chapels of Sealy were in charge of arrangements.
