Funeral services for Malinda Carol Polichnai, age 98, of Rosenberg, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2004 at St. John's United Church of Christ, 1513 West St. in Rosenberg with the Rev. Dr. Dale Staggemeier officiating. Burial followed in the Needville Public Cemetery. Serving as pall bearers were Richard Engeling, Marvin Janczak, Robert Maeckel, W. Lee Hedt, Alvis Gene Schmidt and Lawrence Sopchak. Visitation for friends was between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Friday July 9, 2-4 at Garmany & Carden Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Mrs. Polichnai passed away July 7, 2004 in Richmond. She was born Malinda Hedt on September 29, 1905 in New Wehdem. Her parents were Adolph and Louis Hedt. She moved to Needville in 1909. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ for many years. She loved gardening, sewing, and crocheting and also enjoyed working outside. Her husband, Herman Polichnai preceded her in death along with her daughter, Verna Loesch, one brother, and four sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Burleson and husband Cuba Joe, of Bellville; grandchildren, Kelli Burleson of Bryan, and Ronnie Loesch and wife, Elsi of Rosenberg; great grandchild, Mark Loesch of Rosenberg; brother, Walter Hedt and wife, Hilda of Needville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
