Funeral services for Ben J. Pomikal, Sr., 78, of Sealy were held Friday, Nov. 5, 2004 at 2 p.m. from Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dale Leland officiating. Interment was at Millheim Cemetery, between Sealy and Bellville. Serving as pallbearers were John Payne, Patrick Murphy, Douglas Lueckemeyer, Daniel Mazac, Rex Waxler and Tim Strayer. Honorary pallbearers were Steven Heggestad, George Roark, Pete Kaminiski, Rudy Mueller, James Paul Lehmann and Charlie Stein. Born in Bellville, Ben John Pomikal was the son of John Pomikal and Hattie Moury Pomikal. He was raised in Bellville and attended Bellville schools. On July 17, 1940 Ben and Leora Stetenpohl were married with ceremony held in Coshatte, near Bellville. Ben served his country in the United States Army, overseas in Japan during World War II. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sealy and a member of V.F.W. Post 6522 in Bellville. Ben was a carpenter, rancher, gardener, avid deer hunter ad sports fan. Ben J. Pomikal, Sr., Passed away Monday, Nov. 1, 2004 at a Houston hospital. He is survived by his dear friend and partner, Corinne Pavlicek of Sealy; daughter, Linda M. Pelling of Wallis; son, Ben J. Pomikal, Jr. of Sealy; brother and sister-in-law, James and Gladys Pomikal of Sealy; grandchildren, Stacy, Jennifer and Virginia Pelling; great-grandson, Richard William Pelling; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Hattie Pomikal; his wife, Leora Pomikal; his sister, Adela Stein; and 2 brothers, Rudolph and Sylvester Pomikal. Memorial contributions may be made to the Millheim Cemetery Association, 2787 FM 949, Sealy, TX 77474 or to the charity of your choice.
