Funeral services for Sylvester Joseph Pomikal, 86, of Sealy, were
held
Thursday, March 18, 2004 at 2 p.m. from Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel
in Sealy
with the Rev. John Tyler officiating. Interment was at the Oak Knoll
Cemetery in Bellville. Serving as pallbearers were Bobby Zapalac,
Bryan
Zapalac, Lawrence Zapalac, Jr., Larry Anderson, Brian Cardenas, and
Lawrence
Zapalac, Sr.
Born in Bellville, Sylvester was the son of John and Hattie Moundry
Pomikal.
On July 17, 1940 Sylvester was joined in marriage to the former Miss
Ora
Dell Beckmann with a ceremony held in Coshatte. Sylvester worked as
a
carpenter building homes. He also was a farmer and he used to dig
graves for
Pete Etlinger. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church
in
Sealy.
Sylvester Pomikal passed away Monday, March 15, 2004 in Brookshire.
He is survived by his daughter Frances Zapalac and husband Lawrence
of
Sealy; brothers James Pomikal of Sealy, and Ben Pomikal of
Bellville;
grandchildren Bobby Zapalac and wife Therese, Sherry Anderson and
husband
Larry, Jr., Bryan Zapalac and wife Linda, and Lawrence Zapalac, Jr.
and wife
Kristy; great grandchildren Dominic and Bobby Zapalac, Jr., Krystal
and
Joseph Anderson, Bryan Zapalac, Jr.; step great grandchildren Brian
Cardenas
and Casandra Martin.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Hattie Pomikal; his
wife
Ora Dell Pomikal; his sister Adela Stein; and his brother Rudolph
Pomikal.
Funeral services were under the direction of Knesek Family Funeral
Chapel,
Sealy.
