Funeral services for Mose M. Poore were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 21, 2004 at Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in Woodlawn Garden of Memories Cemetery in Houston. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, April 20, 2004 at Woodlawn Funeral Home. Mose was born in Norway, Kansas on May 6, 1917, to Frank and Una Poore. Mose grew up with three sisters. He moved to South Dakota a few years later. On October 20, 1942 he married Gayle Burton. They had 2 children Alvin and Imogene. The family lived on a farm near Redfield, South Dakota until December 1967 when they moved to Houston. Mose worked for Anderson Greenwood, a machine shop, until 1976 when he was disabled. They moved to Coushatta Recreation Ranch near Bellville in July 1984. Mose was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and a member of the Slo Poke Good Sam Camping Club. He had many good times camping and playing dominoes. Mose M. Poore passed away at Trinity Medical Center in Brenham on Sunday, April 18, 2004. He is survived by his children Alvin Poore and wife Delia, and Imogene Krueger and husband Will; his sisters, Edith Richmond and Mary Esser; stepsisters, Eileen Mullenberg and Alice Davis; and stepbrother, Albin Johnson. Mose enjoyed 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Mose is preceded in death by his wife Gayle; his parents; his stepfather Franz Johnson; and one sister, Mable. Funeral arrangements by Woodlawn Funeral Home, Houston. Posted by Joy Neely
