Bellville Times
Erwin William Priesmeyer was
born May 6, 1927 in Wesley, Tx, the son of Henry and Ella
Struckmeyer Priesmeyer. He grew up and attended school in Wesley
working on the family farm. Erwin was confirmed by Pastor Arthur J.
Mohr on June, 1 1941 in the Salem Lutheran Church in Salem, Tx. He
served his country in the United States Marine Corps during World
War II in China.
On June 5, 1948 he was united in marriage with Kathryn Nell Kramer
at the Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church in Brenham. Erwin was employed as
an oil driller until 1962 when he joined his brothers in the family
business, Priesmeyer Brothers. He retired when they sold the
business in March 2001. Erwin and Kathryn made their home in
Bellville where they have been members of St. John Lutheran Church.
Erwin was a life member of the Bellville VFW Post #6522, and the Cat
Spring and Kenney Agriculture Societies. An avid Houston Astros fan,
he enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He passed away Tuesday, Feb. 10 at his home in Bellville at the age
of 76.
He is survived by his wife of over 55 years: Kathryn Priesmeyer of
Bellville; son Jimmy Priesmeyer and his wife, Linda, of Brenham;
daughter Judy Luedke and her husband, Don, of Bellville; and
grandchildren Kyle, Kaci and Koy Priesmeyer, Brandon Luedke and his
fiancee, Rebecca Peschel, and Chad Luedke. He is also survived by
his brother Raymond Priesmeyer of Bellville; sisters-in-law, La
Verna Priesmeyer of Bellville, and Bernice Pape and her husband,
Walter, of Brenham; brother-in-law Raymond Werth of Brenham; and
numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents,
brother H.F. Priesmeyer, sister Iona Wilhelmsen Surovik,
sisters-in-law Viola Priesmeyer and Louise Werth, and brother-in-law
Robert Wilhelmsen, Sr.
Funeral Service was held at 2 p.m. Friday Feb. 13, 2004 at St. John
Lutheran Church in Bellville with Pastor H. Eldon Akerman
officiating. Interment followed in the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Brandon Luedke, Chad Luedke,
Kyle Priesmeyer, Koy Priesmeyer, Ronnie Priesmeyer and Erwin Thiel.
Honoray pallbearers were all former employees of Priesmeyer
Brothers.
In lieu of usual remembrances, friends who wish
