Jeanette L. Rinn, 75, of Austin, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, after a brave battle with a rare illness. Jeanette was born Feb. 28, 1929 in Bellville and graduated from Bellville High School in 1946. On Feb. 9, 1947, Jeanette married Melvin A. Rinn of Sealy, Texas, her lifelong partner until Melvin's death in 2001. Jeanette began her career as a bookkeeper for Rinn's Auto Service in Bellville where she and Melvin worked until they moved their family to Austin in 1959. In Austin, Jeanette continued to work as a bookkeeper and administrative assistant at Troy Harold's Food Store, J.M. Rowley Insurance and Jefferson/Texaco Chemical Company until she retired in 1993. After retirement, Jeanette and Melvin moved to Wimberley and eventually to a wooded retreat near Tomball. Jeanette was a friend of nature and wildlife and an avid gardener and outdoorswoman. Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin. She is survived by her sister, Helen Kurtz of Sealy, her son Mel Rinn and his wife, Patricia of Leander and son Reed Rinn and his wife Donna of Austin, granddaughter Alanna Benton and her husband Steven of San Antonio and grandson Alex Rinn of Austin. The family received friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 9 at the Knesek Brothers/Etlinger Funeral Chapel in Bellville. Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 10 at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville at 11 a.m. Interment was in the Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery near Bellville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to St. John Lutheran Church or any charity of choice. Jeanette's family also wishes to convey their sincerest gratitude to the caring staff of The Summit, Hospice Austin and Buckner Villas. Posted by Joy Neely
