Mabel Lena Emma Schramm was born June 20, 1923 in Carmine, to Gustav and Ella Glaesmann Arndt. She was baptized at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine on Oct. 21, 1923, by Pastor August H. Falkenberg, and was confirmed in the same church on Palm Sunday, April 10, 1938, by Pastor Henry Brunotte. Psalm 37:5 was her confirmation verse. Mrs. Schramm attended Boundary and Carmine Schools. On Nov. 28, 1943, Mabel was married to Waldemar H. Schramm in Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine by Pastor Brunotte. Mr. Schramm preceded her in death on March 9, 1987. Mrs. Schramm was a lifetime resident of Fayette County and was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Carmine Fire Department, Sons of Hermann Lodge #151 and American Legion Auxiliary. Mabel passed from this life on Dec. 29, 2004 in Trinity Medical center in Brenham, at the age of 81 years, six months and nine days. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Waldemar "Jack" and Betty Schramm of Brenham; one daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Chester Gebhard of Carmine; grandchildren, Kimberley Rinn and husband Randy of New Ulm, Jonathan Schramm and wife Jennifer of Brenham, Jeremy Schramm and wife Kimberly of Willis; great grandchildren, Travis and Chastity Rinn of New Ulm. Also, sisters and their spouses, Flora Jahnz of Round Top, Lenora and Hebert Jahnz of Carmine, Mary Ann and John Prestwood of Sugar Land; brothers, and their spouses, Clarence Arndt of Brenham, Edwin Arndt, Gus and Margaret Arndt, Floyd and Annette Arndt , Harry and Maxine Arndt, all of Houston. Additionally, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Frank and Marie Schramm of Shelby, Olin and Ida Weber of Houston, Ruby and Edgar Dudensing of New Ulm, Emma Schramm of Bleiblerville, Dorrace Schramm of New Ulm, Nolee Schramm of Warrenton, Lornie and Thomas Holub of Weimer; and numerouse nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Waldemar Schramm, Sr; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ella Mae and Herschel Levien, Vera Hudgins, Paul Jahnz; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Esther Schramm, Roxie and Paul Laake, Allizia and Ernest Klaus, Leroy Schramm, Herbert Schramm, Lawrence and Olivia Schramm, and Norbert Schramm. Pallbearsers are Ronnie Jahnz, Steven Arndt, Larry Levien, Floyd Arndt, Jr., Kane Prestwood, Charlie Schramm, Brian Arndt and Walter Arndt. Following the committal at Carmine Cemetery, all were invited to return to the Fellowship Hall for refreshments.
