Funeral services for Marcella Strauss, 92, of Cat Spring were held Tuesday,
March 23, 2004 at 10 a.m. from Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in Sealy with the
Rev. Jason Korthauer officiating. Interment was at Cat Spring Cemetery in
Cat Spring. Pallbearers serving were James Luhn, Robert Schockley, Thomas
Wade, Carlos Sens, Henry Brune, and Douglas Schindler.
Born in Bernardo, Texas, Marcella was the daughter of J.A. "Jake" and Annie
Nelson Liermann. She was raised in Bernardo.
The former Miss Marcella Liermann was joined in marriage to Fritz Strauss on
April 25, 1933 with a ceremony held in Bellville.
They moved to Cat Spring to make their home where he was a barber. Marcella
was very active. She was a member of Bernardo Domino Club, St. John Lutheran
Ladies Aid, Hermann Sons, Cat Spring Volunteer Fireman Auxiliary, and St.
John Lutheran Church of Cat Spring. Marcella enjoyed playing dominoes,
cards, tending to her yard, cooking (especially her coffee cakes), and
sewing.
Marcella Strauss died Saturday, March 20, 2004.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews Mary Ruth Schindler and husband
Lester, Joyce Schindler, Betty Sens, Laverne Neuendorff, Ivan Neuendorff and
Thomas Wade; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents Jake and Annie Liermann; husband Fritz
Strauss; sisters and brothers-in-law Marjorie and Ed Neuendorff and Minnie
Lee and Arnold Sens; and nephew A.J. Sens.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Knesek Family Funeral
