Clara Mae Assmann Surrett, 59, of Brenham passed away Wednesday, September
22, 2004 at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston.
She was born November 9, 1944 in Bellville to Richard and Sadie Elda Hintz
Assmann. She was baptized on October 28, 1956 in Welcome Lutheran Church.
She attended Welcome School. On November 7, 1964 she was married to Marvin
Ray Surrett in the Welcome Lutheran Church by the Rev. Walter Wolf.
Clara Mae was employed for 32 years as a spinner for Brentex/Mt. Vernon
Mills. Clara retired to fight her battle with cancer with her two daughters
taking good care of her. Clara enjoyed cooking, going camping and spending
time with her grandkids.
She is preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, Richard Surrett; and
brother-in-law, Richard Allen "Boogie" Surrett.
Her survivors include her husband of 39 years, Marvin Surrett; daughters,
Brenda Surrett and husband Ralph Beaudet, Shannon Wesolick and husband
Chris, all of Brenham; grandchildren, Tyler Wesolick and Mally Beaudet;
brother, Larry Assmann and wife Mary of Brenham; sisters, Lillie Mae Assmann
of Industry, Mildred Siptak and husband Butch of Nelsonville, Judy Vasut and
husband Jimmy of Columbus, Linda Kay Vasut and husband Larry of Lissie;
mother-in-law, Eva Surrett of Brenham; sister-in-law, Darnell Surrett of
Brenham; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ernie Surrett and wife Sandy of
Magnolia; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Vivitation with the family was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 25,
2004 and the funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 26, in
Brenham Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Gary Jeter officiating. Burial
followed in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Pallbearers were Donald Wayne Hegemeyer,
Earnest Barham, Allen Hintz, Chester Hintz, Jr., Joey Barham, Kenneth
Levien. Honorary pallbearers were Tyler Wesolick, Mally Beaudet and Tammy
Vasut.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Booser and the staff of M.D. Anderson for
their care. Memorials may be given to M.D. Anderson Hospital, or the charity
of your choice.
