Funeral services for Kathy Papke Swallow were held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 7, 2004 at Knesek Brothers Funeral Home with the pastor Milroy Gregor officiating. Interment followed in the Oak Knoll Cemetery. Pallbearers were Henry Papke, David Whitehead, Greg Franco, Albert Brown, Craig Hohertz, Brian Papke, and Howard Papke. Mrs. Swallow was born in Austin county on January 7, 1931 to Adolph L. Papke and Gertrude S. Papke. She was educated in Austin County. On November 27, 1947 she married Charles J. Swallow at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville. They lived in Fort Morgan, Colorado, Galveston, and Fort Worth before settling in Houston and retiring in Bellville. Mrs. Swallow enjoyed quilting, reading, and her Cocker Spaniels, Lady and Cookie. She took pleasure in visiting with special friends, Ruby Brown, Sherry Luhn, and David Whitehead. Kathy Papke Swallow passed away on May 5, 2004. She is survived by her husband Charles J. Swallow; son Cliff W. Swallow; granddaughter Melissa Swallow and husband Greg Franco; great grandchildren, Maverick and Ziara Franco; brother Henry Papke and wife Delores; sister-in-law Marjorie Papke; three nephews and one niece. In lieu of remembrances, friends who wish may make memorial gifts to Hospice Brazos Valley. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Knesek Funeral Home, Bellville. Posted by Joy Neely
