Elsie Tillie Goeke Wiese was born January 8, 1918 in Kenney, the daughter of John H. and Clara B. Albrecht Goeke. She grew up and attended school in Kenney. On January 16, 1936, she was united in marriage with Oscar "Sport" Wiese at the St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville. They made their home in the Kenney area most of their married life and were members of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Phillipsburg. After Oscar preceded Elsie in death in 1987, she made her home in Bellville where she was an active member of the St. John Lutheran Church. Elsie was employed in food services at the Kenney School and later Bellville I.S.D. After her retirement, she stayed busy as a care giver for the sick and the elderly for a number of years. A hard worker, she enjoyed farming and ranching. She was also a fine Christian lady, and was a very generous and friendly person. She enjoyed flowers and gardening, and received great satisfaction in helping others, especially her family. Elsie passed away Saturday, May 15, 2004 in Bellville. She was 86 years old. She is survived by her sister, Mary Lou Fenner of Karnes City; several nieces and nephews, Shirley H. Harbison of Fort Worth, Jimmie N. Hermann of Fulton, Jo Hermann of Anderson, Donnie L. Fenner of Karnes City, Eddie Fenner of Houston, Billy Henske of Bellville, Terry Henske of League City and Nancy Henske Hartman of Katy. Also surviving are her great nieces Sherry K. Latham, Robin R. Latham, Debbie A. Hermann, and Delinda K. Mock; sisters-in-law Ruth Henske, Annie Wiese and Irene Wiese; numerous other great nieces and nephews, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers Otto and J.D. Goeke, and sister Norma Andrus. Funeral Services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 17, 2004, at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel in Bellville with Pastor Milroy Gregor officiating. Interment followed in the Oak Knoll Cemetery. Pallbearers were Billy Henske, Terry Henske, Donnie Fenner, Lance Hermann, William Mock and A.V. Hartman. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the St. John Lutheran Church, 520 N.
