Funeral services for Mary Belle Gruener Yeamans, 88, of Freeport , formerly of Sealy, were held Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at 4 p.m. from Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in Sealy with the Rev. John Tyler officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Johnny Ray Sweat, Cody Sweat, Tyler Seat, Bill Lowrey, IV, Chuck Gruener, Robert Schroeder and James Schroeder. Born in Peters Community, Mary Belle was the daughter of Max T. and Dora Hoff Schubert. She was raised in the Peters community and attended Peters Community School. Mary Belle was married to Bennie Gruener for 25 years until his death in 1963. She married Lloyd Yeamans in 1969 and they celebrated 33 years of marriage when he died in 2002. When Dow Chemical opened in 1941, Mary Belle, Bennie and their two sons moved to the Jones Creek area. Later Mary Belle lived in Sealy, Austin and Lake Jackson. A great fisher woman, Mary Belle enjoyed many days of fishing in the Freeport area with her best friend, Marjorie Franklin. Though she did not attend college, she was very outspoken and full of common sense. She was also a talented artist and had beautiful flower gardens. Mary Bell's greatest love was her two families and she was very generous to them. She also loved her shoes and called herself a shoe person. In addition, she liked watching the Astros, was a dominoes whiz and enjoyed Bingo and the slot machines, particularly when she won. Mary Belle will be fondly remembered by all who were blessed from knowing her. She died Monday, August 23, 2004 in Lake Jackson. She is survived by her sons, David Gruener and wife Flo of Jones Creek and Claude Gruener and partner Douglas Ponisi of Austin; sister, Lillie Brandes and husband C.W. of Sealy; grandchildren, Vicki Sweat and husband Johnny Ray and David Gruener and wife Christine; great grandchildren Cody and Tyler Seat, and Emily and Mason Gruener; stepson, James Yeamans; step grandchildren, Ann Moniot and husband Steve and Bill Lowery, IV and wife Melissa; step great grandchildren, Samantha and Kristin Lowery and Nathan and Lauren Moniot. She was preceded in death by her parents, Max and Sora Schubert; her first husband, Bennie Gruener; her second husband, Lloyd Yeamans; sister, Birdie Schroeder; and brother, Roy Schubert; and step daughter, Wilma Lowery.
