Funeral services for Dennis L. Zapalac, Sr., 62, of Frydek were held at 2
p.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Frydek with the
Rev. Bernard Snock celebrating the funeral mass and rite of committal.
Interment followed at St. Mary's Cemetery. The K.J.T. rosary was recited at
6:30 p.m., Monday, May 24, at St. Mary's Catholic Church followed by the
parish vigil wake service and rosary. Pallbearers for the service were
Dennis Zapalac, Woodrow Duve, John Moreida, Dale Ratcliff and Timothy
Ratcliff. 
Dennis Louis Zapalac, Sr., was born to parents Wille R. and Mary Jurek
Zapalac in Sealy. He was raised in Frydek and attended Frydek Public School.
Dennis married the former Miss Mary Ruter Svinky at St. Mary's on February
27, 1965 and was a carpenter building homes in the Sealy area. He was a
member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Frydek K.J.T. Society.
He died Sunday, May 23, 2004 in Houston.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Svinky Zapalac of Sealy; children and
spouses, Dennis Zapalac, Jr., of Sealy, Sandra Moreida and husband John of
Beasley, Cynthia Duve and husband Woodrow of New Ulm and Steven Zapalac of
Sealy; grandson, Vincent Moreida of Beasley; brothers and spouses, Lawrence
Zapalac and wife Frances of Sealy, Sylvester Zapalac and wife Emilie of
Sealy, George Zapalac of Brenham and Willie Zapalac of Sealy; sister and
spouse, Margie Dirba and husband Henry of Sealy; sister and brother-in-law,
Patsy and Dale Ratcliff; nephew Timothy Ratcliff; niece Malinda Ratcliff;
and a number of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents  Willie R. and Mary Zapalac,
brothers, Felix and Milton Zapalac; and granddaughter, Leslie Morieda.
Funeral services were held under the direction of the Knesek Family Funeral
Chapel of Sealy.
